The Wombats to appear on 'Neighbours'

The Wombats are set to perform in a forthcoming episode of Australian soap opera 'Neighbours'.

The Liverpool trio will perform two songs, 'Kill The Director' and 'Let's Dance To Joy Division', at the fictional venue Charlie's Bar this August.

The episode will air in the UK later in 2008, most likely in September or October.

The band are not the first musicians to appear on the show both the Pet Shop Boys' Chris Lowe and The Spice Girls' Emma Bunton have made cameos on Ramsay Street in the past.

Sex Pistols: 'Coldplay Are Just Men In Anoraks'

Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon has launched a vicious attack on Coldplay, comparing the group to “men in anoraks.”

In an interview with the Sun newspaper, Lydon said that he felt sorry for the “poor bastards” that have to watch the band.

“They are utterly humourless. I met them a few years ago, said hello and realised they were just men in anoraks,” Lydon said.

“They looked like a gang of little poncy masturbators.

Although he said that the band's songs have "a couple of quite nice tones here and there", Lydon criticised the people who buy them, calling them "slightly inadequate, half-baked people.”

Lydon's comments came backstage at the Isle of Wight Festival, where the Sex Pistols headlined on Saturday (June 17th).

The singer also spoke about the possibility of the a new album from The Sex Pistols, which would be only their second studio LP.

“There could be a new record. That would be nice,” he said. But I won’t do anything in a patronising way.

“The music, the subject and the attitude all have to be right at the same time. Everything has to be from the heart.”

What do you think about Lydon's comments about Coldplay? DO you agree? Let us know by posting a comment below.

Big Brother - New Housemate Stuart Causes A Stir In Big Brother House

Stuart Pilkington is the talk of the Big Brother house after becoming the 17th housemate on the ninth series.

A 25-year-old former personal trainer, Stuart says his passions in life are his five-year-old daughter, music, women and Manchester United.

He arrived on the back of a motorbike to replace Alexandra De-Gale, who was removed for threatening other housemates.

And the new contestant seems to have caused a stir with the female housemates, with both Jennifer Clark and Sylvia Barrie grilled about their thoughts on Stuart.

Toy demonstrator Mohamed Mohamed questioned if Sylvia was keen on Stuart because of "the way you were looking at him" though she protested, saying: "I don't fancy him….I'm the only person who knows how I'm feeling and I don't have a crush."

And while Jennifer had seemed the most keen on Dale Howard, her reaction to Stuart's arrival told a different story in the eyes of Mario Marconi and Mikey Hughes.

"I was never sure it was true love", said of Dale and Jennifer while in the diary room and both agreed that Stuart seems up for a laugh.

"Dale is quite quiet so it will be interesting to see if he can compete," Mario added.

Sylvia later said that she "can't help" acting on her possible feelings for Stuart, despite having a boyfriend outside the house, yet she and Jennifer both agreed they are still unsure of his real personality.

Jennifer, a 22-year-old model, described Stuart as a "headf**k for saying things'", in comparison to Dale's character.

"Dale can't be anything other than himself which is what is endearing about him but with someone [Stuart] you can't be 100 per cent certain," she added.

"[It's] like feelings over riding common sense," Sylvia added.

"I'm only 21. My mum tells me I don't know everything and this is what she meant."

Alexandra's eviction and Stuart's subsequent entrance on Friday were watched by 4.72 million viewers, according to Channel 4, the highest viewing figures for the reality show since its launch a fortnight ago.
